It was tears, encomiums and emotions as the traditional Prime minister of Ughelli Kingdom, Prince Freeborn Ekpadamrophe Oharisi was laid to rest at his final abodeat Amekpa in Ughelli North of Delta State.
In honour of the late Prime Minister, (Iyatsere) of Ughelli Kingdom shops and markets in Ughelli metropolis were closed as his remains was interred at 12.05 pm last Friday at the age of 67.
The burial of the late Oharisi commenced with the procession of Ughelli Kingdom communities from the palace of Ovie to Ekiugbo junction last Wednesday led by the president general of Ughelli Descendants Union, UDU, Olorogun Pius Omubaye.
In their various tributes, the chairman of Ughelli North local government area, Chief Godwin Adode said, “We have to accept the hard realities of his death and as we all know death is inevitable, a debt we all owe and pay.
“We all know that the entire family and the community at large will have a hard time accepting the situation because he was an epitome of humility, resilient and a staunch leader who always stood for the truth”.
The Otota of Ughelli Kingdom, Olorogun Peter Akpofure in his tributes said, “Writing a tribute on you was never my dream but event proved me wrong. In you I saw a man with integrity, a man that honours his words a simple character.
“Then death took you away when we just settling down to do business. I will miss you my brother, we meet at the resurrection day”.
In his tributes, Chief Dr. Chris Oharisi who condole the immediate family said, “in this moment of grief let us all be consoled in the knowledge and truth that he lived a fulfilled life and he has gone to be with the Lord. The passage of the righteous is a transition from mortality to mortality.
Also, the president General of Ughelli Descendants Union, Chief Pius Omubaye held that Ughelli Kingdom will miss the late Prime Minister for his truthfulness.
“The late Iyatsere was a peacemaker and very accommodating in all his doing and the Ughelli Kingdom has lost a rare gem whose vacuum will be difficult to fill, though we cannot question God why it happened. We are consoled by the fact he left legacy for us to follow “.
